Licensing Requirements—Manitoba

Registration: Travel nurses must be licensed by the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) for Registered Nurses (RNs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) or the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM) for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). These regulatory bodies oversee licensure and ensure nurses meet the province’s professional standards.

Professional Practice Standards

Scope of Practice: Travel nurses in Manitoba are responsible for working within their regulated scope of practice, following the Manitoba standards of practice, code of ethics, and the Canadian Nurses Association’s Code of Ethics. Nurses are expected to provide safe, competent, and ethical care in all healthcare settings across the province.

For Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs)

If you were educated and licensed outside of Canada, you must apply for registration through the applicable regulatory body (CRNM or CLPNM). This process includes:

• Submitting credentials for assessment (usually via the National Nursing Assessment Service - NNAS)

• Demonstrating English language proficiency

• Meeting educational and clinical practice requirements

• Completing any bridging or refresher programs if required
